In the past, we worked in the same industry for three years, but the experience we are having now is completely different. The difference is not only in how the work is done, but especially in how people are treated with respect, patience, confidence, and openness. Here, we truly feel that every one of us matters, that we are trusted to make decisions, to share ideas, and to make changes when we believe they can bring improvement. It’s a freedom that motivates and inspires us every single day.
We deeply appreciate the way communication flows within the company calm, respectful, and professional. The atmosphere is positive and balanced, and our colleagues are not just co-workers, but true teammates who are always ready to help and collaborate. It is a genuine pleasure to work among such wonderful people both professionally and personally.

Since my first day on the MS River Allegro, I did not want to sit around without work, so I went to the ship’s kitchen and there I met two people from Moods & Roots. I asked them if I could help out as a volunteer because I did not have official papers until yet. They got the approval for me to work as a volunteer from the COA organization, and I started working with the company as a volunteer. After I obtained a residency and a BSN number and an ID, the owner of the company offered me to sign a contract with them, and I was very happy to find people who believe in you, and love you and support you all the time. The great thing is that the company trained me wonderfully and I developed very quickly in my job position. I am now a chef in this company. It is very nice to work in a place where you feel comfortable and a sense of belonging, and where you have horizons for continuous development. My company – and I say it is my company because I feel that it is truly a part of me – it is a company that also has a humanitarian message. I can write many pages about River Roots and Moods & Roots. I really worked in most of their locations and with almost all of their chefs and I learned a lot from them. I am currently in this place because of many from the Moods and Roots family. Thank you all!

Dankzij dit bedrijf heb ik de kans gekregen om mijn kookkunsten te laten zien. Dit is grotendeels te danken aan Lino. Het is dankzij zijn aanbeveling dat ik in dit team zit. Vergeleken met Oekraïne is mijn salaris hier gewoon geweldig. En eindelijk kan ik mijn familie en de strijdkrachten van Oekraïne helpen. Vorig jaar hebben ze voor ons een bedrijfsfeest georganiseerd. Iedereen vond het leuk. We hebben genoeg gedronken, gegeten en gedanst. Het was precies wat we nodig hadden. Ik wil heel graag blijven werken bij dit bedrijf. En dat is niet alleen mijn mening, maar die van ons hele team. En ons team is gewoon geweldig. Natuurlijk ontstaan er, zoals overal, problemen en misverstanden. Maar ik zeg altijd, dat zijn maar kleinigheden—gewoon een deel van het werkproces. Ik wil ook graag iets vertellen over onze chef-kok Lino. Hij is gewoon geweldig. We zijn allemaal verschillend, maar Lino heeft voor iedereen van ons de juiste aanpak. Hij weet precies wat en voor wie nodig is. Je kunt altijd bij hem terecht voor advies. Hij is heel vriendelijk, oprecht, vrolijk en meelevend. Lino doet vanuit River Roots ook aan liefdadigheid. We koken maaltijden voor kinderen uit kansarme gezinnen, gehandicapten en daklozen in de buurt.
We respecteren en houden allemaal heel veel van hem. Persoonlijk zou ik ook in de toekomst met hem willen werken. Ik denk dat het hele team het met me eens is. We hebben ook Marie-Anne, die eerder met ons werkte. Helaas is ze naar een ander schip gegaan. Maar af en toe komt ze nog naar ons toe om te koken. We houden ook heel veel van haar. Onze hoofdmanager is Romina. Ook een heel goed persoon. Ze lost onze problemen heel snel en efficiënt op. Ik en ons hele team zijn jullie allemaal erg dankbaar voor alles.
